Obituary for John Patrick Williams

John Patrick “Pat” Williams, 76, of St. Albans went to be with Jesus surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Hubbard Hospice Care West of South Charleston after a four month series of illnesses.

After attending church (past ten years Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene) for over 37 years Pat was led to the Lord by a friend from church who had carried a heavy burden for him. Prayer works never give up! Pat was a resident of South Charleston until he married and moved to St. Albans. In 1959, he graduated from South Charleston High School, went to West Virginia State College but decided he preferred working with his hands so he retired as general maintenance chemical worker from FMC in South Charleston after 41 years of employment.

Pat is survived by his loving devoted wife, Judith (Judy) Ann Williams of 37 years, one month and 9 days; step-son, Robert Aaron Long of Norfolk, Virginia; sister, Nancy Elaine Doak of South Charleston; nephew, Joel Doak of South Charleston; nephew, Nathan Doak of St. Albans; sister-in-law, Patsy Spoon Williams of Richmond, Virginia; nephew, Greg Williams of Greensboro, North Carolina; and nephew, Brian Williams of Richmond, Virginia. Pat (Poppy) is also survived by his grandchildren, Savannah Brook, Aaron Jacob and Ezra James Long of Norfolk, Virginia. He dearly loved sharing life with them. He delighted in selecting and wrapping the perfect Christmas or birthday presents for all his family. Christmas and Halloween were his favorite times of year because he loved gift giving and handing out full size candy bars for Trick or Treat.

He is preceded in death by his parents Paulene and Fulton Williams and his brother Robert F. “Bob” Williams.

The celebration of his life will be planned for a future date. You may visit his Tribute page at AffordableCremationsofWV.com to share your memories with the family.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be sent to the Hubbard Hospice Care Wes, 4605 MacCorkle Avenue, South Charleston, WV 25309 or Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 2325 US Route 60, Hurricane, WV 25526.

Cremation services are being provided by Affordable Cremations of WV, 413 D Street, South Charleston, WV.
